If you have a pan with some stuck on gunk, try filling it up with warm water and then laying a dryer sheet (maybe more than one for a really bad mess) in the water. Leave it like this overnight.
By morning, all of the baked-on mess will have separated from the pan or what is left should remove easily with a spatula or something hard and flat.
