Make sure to REPIN this recipe 🙂
I was at the Cheesecake Factory a couple weeks ago and I saw the couple next to me get this appetizer and they went on and on about how good it was.
I told my mom about the egg rolls about a potential recipe for the site – and she practically demanded I make them since they are her favorite appetizer at the Cheesecake Factory
She tried my version and she said they were spot on —- I even made the dipping sauce which she said was very close
This was a kinda hard recipe to make — not the egg rolls so much but the dipping sauce. I found out what they use in the sauce I knew I had to find an alternative — they use ingredients I know I do not have in my kitchen
If you did not know I try and adapt all my recipes so that they reflect what I have in my kitchen or what most kitchen should have on hand.
I hate buying something like “fish sauce” and only use it once…. Actually I think one of my recipes from years ago used fish sauce ( so there goes that point)
Regardless, this was a really fun recipe to make with my dad —– he did not have much practice with cooking with wonton wrappers ( I personally love working with wonton wrappers) – so it was fun to show him how the fry up like a chip
Though we fried these wontons I know you can bake them – the instructions to bake the wrappers are located on the packaging
The recipe took under 20 minutes to complete – also it cost under $10 for about 12 egg rolls which is about double of what you get at The Cheesecake Factory
Here is my Dad mixing up the filling for the wontons – it almost looks like guacamole right?
